Our Legacy | Muddy H Farms | Gainesville, Ga

Muddy H Farms is a multi-generational farm. During WWII a soldier’s pay was sent
home to purchase part of the acreage that is currently farmed. Cotton and poultry were
the earliest farm practices on the land. In 1949, a dairy was begun. The primary animal in the heard was Holstein. A couple tow headed farm hands arrived on the farm and made the decision to make dairying their livelihood. The dairy expanded... Producing their own feed for the herd was put into practice. Hay and corn were planted, harvested and stored to feed the herd. Income for the dairy business became a less than ideal way make a decent living and the milking herd was sold in 2016. Poultry houses were constructed on the farm; however, a few dairy animals remained. A third-generation tow headed boy grew into partnership adding beef cattle to the poultry operation. As “clean eating” and “whole foods” became more and more popular with consumers the decision was made to introduce Muddy H Farms beef to the community. Those dairy animals that remained are currently milked daily in order to sell raw milk labeled “pet consumption only” according to Georgia law.
